About the Library

NPR Arts and Science College has an excellent library. The library was established in the academic year 2005-2006 with 1315 volumes. It is one of the best-established libraries with a large collection of books covering various branches of Computer Science, Information Technology, BCA, Commerce and Management, Science and Humanities, and its related fields. Our College library follows an open-access system.

Infrastructure

The library is located on the ground floor in the main administrative block and it is spread over 2400 sq ft with a

  • Separate Stacking Section
  • Long Reading Hall
  • Comfortable reference and circulation section
Stacking Section
  • Library books are classified to arrange in subject-wise, alphabetical order in Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC).
Reading Section
  • The reading hall is provided in the library.
Reference Section
  • The library consists of about 500 reference books from all departments.
  • The collection of the thesis, Dissertations, Bound volumes,
    • Competitive exam books for GATE, GRE, IEEE, TOFFEL, GMAT
    • Civil Services of IAS, IPS, IFS
    • Defense examination of the Army, Navy, and Air Force,
    • Hospitality – Nursing,
    • TNPSC Group I, II, III and VI, VII, VIII
    • and NET, SET examinations,
    • MKU question bank,
    • NPR Internal questions with answer key, Syllabus,
    • Tamil, English, Hindi, French, and Dictionaries are also available here

Library Rules and Regulations

  • Students are eligible to borrow books.
  • The books should be returned within 7 days from the date of issue
  • Renewal is also allowed if the concerned book is not reserved by others.
  • The library follows the open access system. Hence books taken out of the rack shall not be replaced. They should be left on the table.
  • Users must scan their ID card in the e-GATE Register kept at the entrance while entry / exit to record their entry into the Library.
  • Books will be issued to the students only upon production of a valid ID card
  • Loss of books issued, if any should be reported to the Librarian immediately
  • Members must replace the book if lost with the latest edition along with overdue charges. If the borrower is unable to replace the lost book,
  • triple the cost of the book will be collected.
  • Journals and Back volumes will not be issued
  • Personal books and files should be left on the rack at the entrance of the library. Plain sheets may be taken instead
  • The use of Mobile Phones inside the library is strictly prohibited.
  • Discussions are not allowed inside the library
  • Strict silence should be observed in the library.

The arts and science college library is mainly for the use of staff members and students of the college. The number of books issued will vary according to the membership category.

Digital Resources

Browsing – the library is connected to the 16 MBPS internet service hub and has 4 systems for accessing the Internet from 09.30 a.m. – 03.30 p.m. and a wifi facility on the campus to access the various online e-journals and e-books.

Automation

  • The library has been fully computerized and all the transactions are automated OPAC (online public access catalog).
  • Auto entry register with barcode facility in the digital library.
